THROUGH THE FIRE

Hey Ya'll! I know it's been a while but I've been going through and I know you have too. Honestly, when I'm going through I always stop doing what helps me. Do you do that? It makes no sense. Anyways, this topic has been on my heart and it was confirmed today that I need to stop procrastinating and just get it written.

Fire. When you think of fire you subconsciously think about the dangerous characteristics. Its hot...like real hot and can be uncontrollable in some situations. We don't like it because we can't control it and that's what I think is the worst characteristic. Now, I'm sure you know where I am going with this but just keep reading.

Have ya'll been going through the fire? What does the fire look like for you? Is it hot, constantly changing, an uncontrollable situation? There's a story in the Bible about 3 men who are thrown into a fire because of their refusal to bow to the king. So the consequence was fire. They had to enter the fire. It was a hot, uncontrollable situation. I'm sure they were terrified, but there was nothing they could do. See, sometimes we think the fire is a consequence of our actions. We think its automatically is negative and meant to destroy us. It probably is meant to destroy you. I know, not the statement you were predicting. But it's true. Fires (especially those created by humans) are probably meant to destroy you. Keep reading.

Did you know there are benefits to a fire though? Fire can cause the seeds to crack open and release pollen, which is known as germination. Fire encourages growth. You can't control the fires in your life, but you can control whether you become the ash or a new plant. The most annoying part of the fire is the process of going through it. It's the cracking before the growth, the melting before the beautiful glass mold. The process of going through can make you second guess your strength. You want to run, hide, extinguish it. However, the fire is so necessary for our growth.

I think the part we misinterpret as people is that we somehow are supposed to not go through the fire, especially with Jesus on our side. I have yet to find a time when God said you won't have trouble. What he does say is He is with you THROUGH the fire. The 3 men were thrown into the fire and when the people went to look in they saw 4 silhouettes. GOD WAS WITH THEM IN THE FIRE. How encouraging. Doesn't that give you an extra boost of I-can-do-this? It's so nice that I don't have to go through it alone.

But lets not forget, the fire is not all about you. You never know when your fire might be the flame needed to ignite someone to life. Your cracking can be the necessary opening to a spread of hope, love, and peace. What I didn't mention about the 3 men is the king realized that their God was clearly the real deal. He made a decree which did not allow for anyone to speak against their God. Wow, through the fire, God's glory overshown ( I make up words like my dad) and could't be denied. It ended up freeing the people to speak positively about God with no repercussions. Ya'll thats huge- and that's what can happen for someone else by you going through the fire. Trust the process

Wish me love 💕

  4. 💕 the fire is most difficult. But accepting that you have to be in it to make it through and embracing it can make all the difference. They say our generation is full of silver spoon babies and everything has to be handed to us. But just being in the workforce. Dealing with strangers around you and trying to make it through with faith. Is a fire i intend to melt in and become a new strong faithful christian.

    1. wow I love this though AJ. It's so true that the each generation has their flaws and challenges but as Christians our struggle is the same. To remain Christlike. Thanks for your input!

CHURCH HURT

Hey! Yes, I know it's been a WHOLE year. It's been a long, hard, and crazy year and maybe one day I will divulge the things that have happened in the last year. During this season, there has been a few topics that I have been wanting to write about and I just haven't seemed to have the energy to do so. However, I have the energy today and am taking advantage. The other day I wrote about church hurt on my Instagram. I wrote about those that become offended by the things others say and then I received a comment essentially saying "what about the person doing the offending?" I think it's important to acknowledge that person as well because that's really where it begins.   My original post was about the fact that hurt people hurt people and the church is full of hurting people. The church is a hospital for the sick and not a museum for the saints . What I failed to mention is even if you are hurting it doesn't give you the right to hurt others. My focus i...

APPETITE

It's been a while and I missed you. The last blog was all about how I am not ready for a relationship. Since then and exposing myself to the 50 people who read this blog, I have been doing alot of praying. Praying and asking God to change my appetite. At first this prayer was directed toward my physical appetite. If you know me, you know I do not like vegetables. I am actually allergic to most in my brain. Like my mouth repels veggies, or at least it used to. It didn't take long before I started to feel like the over processed foods I was used to eating all tasted fake and plastic-y. It left a foul after taste. So, that got me thinking.  Of course, I have to take everything to a deep level because that's how God made me. I began to wonder why I allowed myself to eat the way I was, to gain the weight that I did. I came to a conclusion to made me incredibly sad. Because I didn't understand why I wasn't accepted in past relationship, like they didn't "choose...

I'M NOT A HUGGER

Listen, ya'll are going to get these blogs whenever I feel led to write! I hope you don't mind the randomness that is Vashti. I am up at an unGodly hour per usual and of course I'm already deep in thought. Every Sunday at church someone awkwardly stands next to me and I can see the wheels turning in their head on the decision of whether to hug me or not. I'll explain why. So, about 5-7 years ago I realized that when people go to hug me I get anxious. I thought to myself, that can't be right I love hugging my grandparents, I love hugging my nephew...and well, that's it. I'm chuckling just writing that.  My family was never big on hugging. My parents didn't really hug us. Actually in my high school graduation picture, you can see how odd me and my dad look standing that close to each other. And it's not because we don't love each other, we just aren't a physically affectionate family. We are wordsmiths so we have always shown our affection thro...
